Golf at St. Andrews

Scots claim the right to many inventions, including bicycles, postage stamps, telephones and steam engines. But perhaps their most sustainable invention is playing golf. One of the lifelong dreams of devoted golfers is playing at the famous Royal and Ancient Golf Club in the historic St. Andrews and just 12 miles southeast of Dundee. Founded in 1750 and recognized around the world as the body governing golf, St. Andrews regularly hosts the famous British Open on one of the many 18-hole golf courses, the most famous of which is Old 72 running along the rough coast. Although these times are often booked six months in advance, some of them are available by the lottery two days in advance for those who do not have previous reservations. It is worth visiting the majestic old club and the British Golf Museum, which documents the history of the „house of golf” from the Middle Ages to the present day.
